About Tiny Toes Big Trails
I’m Hayley, and I’ve been travelling my whole adult life. Long trips to Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, seven charity trips to Uganda between 2010 and 2019, and more countries than I can list here. Travel has always been part of how I see the world.
Then I had kids, and something shifted. Not whether I wanted to travel, that never changed. But in how I searched for information before a trip. I kept finding the same problem: family travel content that assumed unlimited budgets, luxury hotels, and families who never have to think about whether a pram will get across a beach.
That’s not us. We’re a family from Liverpool in the UK: my partner and I, and our two daughters. Most of our trips are built around real life, with affordable flights, DIY itineraries, and places that actually work with young children.

Why Tiny Toes Big Trails
I started the blog because I got frustrated. I kept watching friends assume that family travel meant expensive package deals costing thousands, but it doesn’t have to. I’m good at finding a cheap break that doesn’t feel cheap, and I wanted to share that.
The other reason is practical. As a parent, I started searching for real family travel advice. Things like, ‘Can you take a pram on that beach’, or ‘is this destination actually good for kids’ or just marketed that way, ‘what does a trip like this actually cost’, and I would struggle to find what I was looking for. I knew I could answer those questions for others who asked the same, because I was living them.

Places we’ve travelled
Since starting the blog, we’ve shared guides from New York, Disneyland Paris, Gozo, Portugal, Crete and London, alongside family days out around Liverpool and the North West. Before the family trips, there were longer adventures, like three weeks in Thailand, time in Vietnam and Malaysia, and seven charity trips to Uganda between 2010 and 2019. Travel has shaped how I think about the world, and I want our daughters to grow up with that same curiosity.
