Disneyland Paris in February: What to Expect (Weather, Crowds & Family Tips)

Just so you know: This post contains affiliate links. If you click through and make a booking or purchase, I may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you.

Visiting Disneyland Paris in February can feel like a bit of a leap of faith, especially if you’re travelling with kids. Is it too cold? Are rides closed? Are the crowds actually smaller? And most importantly… is it still magical in winter?

Our eldest daughter’s birthday is at the beginning of March, and we decided to take her to Disneyland for her third birthday. To make the most of the free child place, we chose to go at the end of February instead. It felt like such a waste paying full price for the sake of a few days.

As it turns out, February is one of the quietest months at Disneyland Paris, but there are definitely a few things you need to know before you book. So is February actually a good time to visit Disneyland Paris? This guide covers exactly what to expect, including weather, crowds, ride closures, what to wear, and whether it’s worth visiting with toddlers.

Is February a good time to visit Disneyland Paris?

If you’re considering whether it’s worth visiting Disneyland Paris in February, here’s a quick summary before we dive into the detail.

Benefits of visiting Disneyland in February

✅ Smaller crowds than spring, summer and Christmas
✅ Shorter queue times for most rides
✅ Lower prices for hotel and package deals
✅ Less overwhelming for young children

Downsides to be aware from

❌ Cold temperatures and unpredictable weather
❌ Rainy days are common
❌ Short daylight hours
❌ Some ride closures for maintenance
❌ Outdoor rides may close temporarily in extreme cold
❌ No major seasonal events
❌ School holidays fall on some weeks

How crowded is Disney in February?

Part of February sits firmly in low season at Disneyland Paris, which makes it appealing for families looking for a calmer experience. However, which part of February you visit really matters. While February never reaches summer level crowds, it can still get busy during the last half of the month. If you’re travelling in February mainly to avoid crowds, I’d recommend booking in the first half of the month if possible.

French and UK School Holidays

French holidays:
France staggers school holidays across three zones, with holidays usually starting from mid February.

Official French school holiday dates can be found here.

British holidays:
In the UK, school holiday dates (including half terms) are set by local councils and can differ by region and school. Despite these differences, February half-term usually falls in the second half of the month.

You can check council-level term dates here.

Disneyland February crowds

Using a website like Queue-Times can really help with planning. Midweek dates are generally much quieter.

> Second half of February midweek dates are usually predicted at around 70–80% capacity, compared to closer to 90% at weekends
> Midweek dates in the first week of February are often predicted at just 30-50% capacity, which is a huge difference.

What crowds are like

> Shorter queues for popular attractions
> Easier access to parade viewing spots
> Less congestion around the castle and Main Street
> A more relaxed pace for families

Midday can still feel busy, but it’s far more manageable than peak seasons.

Best time to visit in February

> Weekdays are quieter than weekends
> Avoid UK and European half term weeks if possible

What is the weather like in February at Disneyland Paris?

The weather is often the biggest deciding factor for families visiting Disneyland Paris in February.

We visited at the end of February and were actually pleasantly surprised. Our first day was dry and mildly cold, but not freezing. A light jacket was enough. Day two was so mild that most people were just wearing hoodies. Our third and final day, however, was extremely wet, and ponchos were an absolute must.

If you’re travelling from Britain, the weather in Paris will feel very familiar. Unpredictable and often wet. My advice is to layer up so you’re prepared for all eventualities. Even on milder days, evenings can feel much colder. Ponchos are a great alternative if you don’t want to wear a heavy raincoat, and waterproof footwear is well worth considering.

Using the weather to your advantage also helps. On rainy days, prioritise indoor rides or book shows. The Disneyland Paris app makes this easy and shows real time queue lengths.

Average Paris February temperatures

> Daytime highs: 5–7C
> Early mornings and evenings: 0-2C
> “Feels like” temperatures can be lower due to wind and chill

If you’re checking weather apps, always plan for it to feel colder than expected, especially first thing in the morning and after sunset.

Typical Paris February conditions

> Cold, crisp mornings
> Overcast or grey skies
> Occasional drizzle or light rain
> Wind that cuts through thin coats
> Rare snowfall (not guaranteed, but possible)

Indoor vs outdoor rides in winter

Indoor rides are much more comfortable in February. Outdoor rides, especially rollercoasters and water rides, can feel significantly colder.

On wetter days, we often chose indoor rides and shows — tips you’ll find detailed in my Disneyland Paris with toddlers guide.

Disneyland Paris February prices

February often brings some of the cheapest prices of the year at Disneyland Paris, which is especially important if you’re travelling on a budget.

What did we pay to travel to Disneyland in February?

We booked our hotel, tickets and meal plan directly through the Disneyland Paris website. Flights and transfers were booked separately.
👉 You can book your hotel via Booking.com too.

Three adults and a two year old:
> Two nights at Hotel Cheyenne (Toy Story themed)
> Half board meal plan
> Three days of park tickets

Cost: £1,355

Return flights with EasyJet: £207
Return transfers: £130

Total trip cost: £1,692

That works out at around £423 per person based on four people. Our toddler’s Disney place was free as she was under three. We flew with Easy Jet.
👉 Check flights with Booking.com

I thought this was brilliant value. Staying on site with a meal plan meant we barely needed any extra spending money. Our daughter even had birthday money to spend in the shops, and we struggled to use it all.
👉 Consider booking a comfy shared or private transfer. There are plenty of options on Get Your Guide.

Is the Disneyland Paris meal plan worth it?

In my opinion, yes, absolutely.

We chose all you can eat buffet restaurants, which worked perfectly with a toddler. Although our daughter didn’t technically have a meal plan (as her place was free), under threes eat free at buffet restaurants. If we’d chosen à la carte restaurants, we would have needed to pay for her meals separately. We booked it directly through the Disneyland Paris website. You can read my Disneyland Paris meal plan post and if it is worth it.

Pros
> All food is paid for in advance
> Excellent value at buffet restaurants
> All food is paid for in advance
> Excellent value at buffet restaurants
> Access to hotel restaurants you might not otherwise visit
> Under threes free at buffets
> Can offset the cost of character dining
> Sitting down for a proper meal is a much needed break

Cons
> Restaurants must be booked well in advance
> You’re tied to specific time slots
> Allow extra walking time after parades
> You’ll often be too try some of the other food on offer around the parks

What to wear to Disneyland Paris in February (Adults and kids)

Layering properly really does make or break a February trip.

What adults should wear

> Thermal base layers
> Jumper or fleece (Obviously Disney themed!)
> Warm waterproof coat, or a poncho
> Comfortable shoes, there will be lots of walking!
> Hat, scarf and gloves (those Mickey ears will still fit over a hat 😉

What kids and toddlers should wear

> Thermal vest or base layers
> Fleece or hoodie (also Disney if you wish)
> Insulated waterproof coat
> Thick socks
> Hat and gloves
> If using a pram, then a blanket or footmuff

Ride closures in February at Disneyland Paris

January and February are known maintenance months, so some ride closures are normal.

Disney publishes an official maintenance schedule where you can filter by closed attractions under the “What are you looking for?” section.

What to expect

> One or two larger rides may be closed
> Outdoor rides can close temporarily in extreme cold
> Some attractions close earlier in the evening
> Shows and parades usually still run (weather permitting)

For families with toddlers, the most child friendly rides are usually open, which really helps balance things out.

Disneyland Paris in February with a toddler – honest experience

February can actually be a brilliant time to visit with toddlers if you plan well. Our daughter was almost three and absolutely loved it.

While there were rides she was too small for, there were so many she adored. Seeing her face when she spotted her favourite characters wandering around the park was pure magic.

Pros of visiting with a toddler

✅ Less sensory overload
✅ Easier buggy navigation
✅ Shorter waits for rides
✅ Plenty of indoor attractions to warm up
✅ Calmer overall atmosphere

Challenges to plan for

❌ Cold hands and faces
❌ Planning indoor activities between rain and cold
❌ Shorter daylight hours
❌ Carrying extra layers

Tips for visiting Disneyland with a toddler

> Bring a pram or stroller for tired legs and naps
> Pack plenty of snacks for queues
> Have simple games such as eye spy ready for longer waits
> Always take a toilet break before long queues
> Bring basic medication as there’s no chemist on site
> Take refillable water bottles and small juice concentrates
> And honestly, embrace the rain. If you go prepared and expect it, it’s much easier to just go with it.

Tips for visiting Disneyland in February

> Arrive early as mornings are the quietest
> Use the Disneyland Paris app for live wait times
> Alternate indoor and outdoor rides
> Schedule indoor meals to warm up
> Bring a buggy rain cover
> Hot drinks help on cold days
> Plan fewer attractions and just enjoy the atmosphere
> Use weather apps and book shows around the rain

Is Disneyland Paris worth it in February? Honest verdict

Yes, if you’re prepared for the cold.

February offers:
> Smaller crowds
> Lower prices
> Easier days with young children
> A calmer, more relaxed park experience

Would I go back in February? Yes, while the kids are young and early nights don’t matter. When they’re older and want later evenings, I’d probably choose warmer, lighter months. But for our nearly three year old, it was perfect.

Where to stay in February

Choosing a warm, family friendly hotel makes a big difference in winter. We stayed on site in Hotel Cheyenne. It is Wild West themed with Toy Story themed rooms. We thought it was a great option for families:

> Warm, comfortable rooms
> Bright, playful theming
> Easy transport to the parks
> Walkable in around 15 minutes, which was ideal on colder evenings
> Very toddler friendly
