*WARNING – This post contains spoilers for Lapland UK Manchester*
We were lucky enough to visit Lapland UK Manchester during its opening week in November 2025, and what a magical experience it was. Our visit happened to fall on the very sad Lapland UK Storm Claudia evacuation day. While many families with afternoon slots were turned away or asked to leave partway through, we were fortunate to have a morning session and made it through to the end safely. Our hearts absolutely go out to all the families who were affected.
If you’re wondering whether the indoor Manchester location dulls the magic – it doesn’t. Not one bit. In fact, with Manchester’s famously rainy weather, being indoors felt like the perfect choice. The lighting, theming and immersive atmosphere were beautifully done, and the Elven Village still had that crisp, outdoor Lapland feeling, without the freezing temperatures or slushy puddles.
Because we visited with both a baby and a four year old, this blog focuses on practical tips for families with babies and toddlers, but omits the finer details for the shows so the magic stays intact.
✨ Is Lapland UK Manchester Suitable for Babies?
Yes, and surprisingly so. Lapland UK Manchester is beautifully set up for little ones:
> Everything is pram friendly
> Baby changing facilities are available in the Elven Village
> Staff were incredibly warm and helpful
> The pace suits toddlers and babies, with breaks, seating and calm moments built in
If you’re looking for a baby friendly Christmas experience in Manchester, this really is a magical choice.
🕰️ Our Visit: Timings and What to Expect
(These are approximate, but give you a good idea!)
🎭 Arrival & Check-In (Allow at least 45 mins)
You’re asked to arrive 30 minutes early, we arrived 45 minutes early and still felt a little rushed.
There’s a shop, toilets and refreshments before you enter the first room. We grabbed a coffee and a sausage sandwich (the pain au chocolates were incredible), but were called forward before we finished.
Your child (or Small Folk) receives their passport, and any Jingle bells you pre ordered are handed over too.
There’s a newspaper stand here with The Lapland Grapevine. The copy in our invite was the Autumn edition, but the one available here was the Winter edition, so be sure to grab one! Ours was even signed by an elf.
🚶♀️ It’s a 10–15 minute walk from the car park. Paths are fully covered with plastic slabs, really buggy friendly, and no wellies needed.
✨ The Entrance Show – 25 mins
A high energy, interactive show that gets children buzzing. This is a standing show, so useful to note if you’re babywearing or carrying a little one.
🌀 Portal Show – 25 mins
A calm, magical moment where the “portal to Lapland” opens.
You’re seated on benches with backs, a huge help if feeding a baby. The room is darker and quieter, so ideal for a quick feed or cuddle.
🧸 Toy Workshop – 20 mins
Children help the elves make toys, which they send down the conveyor belt. These are the exact teddies you’ll collect (discreetly) later to leave under the tree on Christmas morning.
There’s no baby change here, or in the rooms before this, but there are toilets.
🍪 The Bakery – 20 mins
A sweet, cosy session with gingerbread decorating and a story from Mother Christmas.
All seated at benches and tables. Really toddler friendly and warm.
🏘️ The Elven Village – 90 mins
This is the biggest stretch of your day and where your freedom begins. It has a festive buzz, elves everywhere, and plenty to see and do.
> One baby change unit (located in the accessible toilet)
> Plenty of seating near the food stalls
> A deliberately chilly atmosphere to mimic being outdoors in Lapland
⛸️ Elven Village Top Tips:
> Go straight to the ice rink first, it’s included in the ticket and gets busier later
> Pre-write your child’s Christmas list at home, posting it is quick, writing it will eat into your time
> Bring spare socks just in case they get soggy during skating
> The Post Office can stamp anything you’ve missed
🛍️ Shops in the Elven Village
> Elva’s Post Office – stamp passports & post your Christmas letter
> Elf Emporium – full of gifts, toys and Lapland themed souvenirs
> Fable’s Library – all the books featured in the experience
> Pixie Mixie’s Sweetshop – sweets galore! I sneakily bought a chocolate coin here for my daughter’s Christmas stocking
> Bauble shop (which the name of I have forgotten!) – lots and lots of baubles to choose from
> Ambolt’s Forge – not a shop, but a lovely, elf run area who interacts with the kids
🍴 Food Options
On Arrival:
> Elven Café – coffee, sausage or bacon barms, and pastries
In the Elven Village:
> Plumes Café – drinks and pastries
> Pumpernickel’s Restaurants – hot food like mac & cheese and pizza
🍼 Important: From check-in to the Elven Village (around 2 hours), there are no opportunities to buy food or drink, so bring snacks and water, especially if you’re visiting with a baby or young child.
🦌 Reindeer & Whispering Woods
You’ll meet the reindeer after leaving the Elven Village, and have a chance to make reindeer food (note: it’s £6 per bag, something to keep in mind if you’ve got multiple children).
There’s also a lovely photo opportunity with Santa’s sleigh here, make sure to grab a QR code from staff so you can download the image.

🎅 The Santa Experience
This really was the highlight of the day.
Send one adult ahead to the check-in desk to discreetly provide your child’s name, so Santa can greet them personally. He spent a beautiful amount of time chatting with our daughter, and it felt genuinely special.
Babies also get a gift, ours received a little wooden rattle, and you’re welcome to take your own photos and videos during the visit.
📸 Photo Collection & Teddy Surprise
At the end, you’ll reach the photo collection point. You get one free printed photo, with options to buy extras or digital copies.
This is where the magic happens:
➡️ While one adult collects the photo, staff discreetly hand over the teddy your child made in the Toy Workshop, along with a card from Santa. Perfect to hide away for Christmas morning!
